Speaking to an audience of 2,000 industry professionals from the architecture, engineering, construction and technology space, director Lorien Barlow delivered a keynote address about women in construction. Amid serious concerns about the construction labor shortage, she urged industry stakeholders to invest in a better understanding of both recruitment and retention challenges for women in the field. She highlighted the invisibility of tradeswomen in the media as one of the obstacles to attracting more women to careers in the skilled trades.
